Protecting your battery connections is essential for your electrical system. When damage occurs to battery connections, it causes all sorts of problems. Damage can be anything from physical impact to corrosion due to exposure. Is there a way to protect battery connections? Yes, and it's much easier than you think. Straight-type battery boots prevent shocks, shorts, and corrosion. This boot is typically used to cover battery posts. Straight-type boots offer protection for continuously energized parts. To use, start by disconnecting the point you would like to cover. Next, slide the straight-type boot over the existing cable and connection point. After you reconnect the cable, pull the straight-type boot into place. Make sure to totally cover the connection point.
